On her 12th birthday, native Texan, Nicole Potter, received her first canvas. It was this day she discovered her passion for painting. The entirety of her career started with that one simple canvas and has now grown into a business nurtured from a vision of fervor and an extraordinary zeal for art.
Potter pioneers for a fresh perspective in all mediums of her work. The diversity of Potter’s inspiration renovates itself in her distinctive style. She gains inspiration for her paintings through vintage photography & advertisements, and a general awareness of her surroundings. Tradition is in the approach, but Potter is not afraid to stray from what is traditional. Her paintings are primarily large scale mixed media acrylic on canvas.
Potter was born and raised in Dallas, where she attended Highland Park High School. In 2010 she graduated from Texas Christian University with a degree in art history, focusing on primitive Mayan art. Although Potter’s current work focuses on acrylics on canvas she also enjoys sketching and recreational photography. Her art has been showcased at Andelon Gallery and Diane Dunaway Gallery.
When she is not painting, Potter enjoys travelling and spending time with her family and friends. It is these moments where she continues to gathers enthusiasm for her art, stowing moments and impressions to implement in her art-to-come.
“The visually exciting work of Nicole Potter is vibrant with color and energy. Her layered, acrylic and photographic, mixed media pieces often incorporate a grid, or series of strong, gestural lines, that lend meaning to both city and landscape imagery. Her ability to organize these calligraphic gestures and mediums delights the eyes and holds the viewer captive.”- The Advisory Board
